Setting of the Robot Bird in Bor

On Monday, June 16th, the Bor municipality got a new resident, the Robot Bird.

Sasa Vukadinovic, Deputy of the Mayor of Bor, and  Biljana Biba Vickovic, the director of the Association “Oktopus” and the author of the Robot Bird,  took a part in the official opening of the Robot Bird.
 
The municipality of Bor won the Robot Bird, as award of the "Green Games" competition www.greengames.rs within the project "Knowledge for Sustainable Development" organized by the Association “Oktopus” in 2011 and 2012. The competition is conducted in partnership with 42 local governments, 6 higher education institutions and 58 primary and secondary schools, and 587 competitors forming 58 competing teams participated in the "Green Games" competition. The awarded Robot Bird, an innovative socially-useful robotic artwork with recycling cans function www.oktoopus.org is designed in order to revitalize culturally urban public space. New technical solutions with the solar power is produced by the experts of the Institute "Mihajlo Pupin" from Belgrade.
 
The awarded Robot Bird for the municipality of Bor is realized through the donation of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund in accordance with the objectives of the program for the Western Balkans.

Press Conference Program

PRESS conferece on the occasion of putting RECIPLET device in function (collector-toy for waste containers and aluminum tins) and awards to RECIPLET contesters from Belgrade, Vranje and Sokobanja, will be held in the Centre for Physical Culture Vračar, Sjenička  1,  on Monday 23th December, 2013. at 11:00. On the same day at 12:00 in ceremonial hall on the municipality of Vračar, in Njegoševa 77. directors of 6 schools will sign the grant contracts for  recycling containers, we will award 30 certificates for accreditation to teachers in 6 schools in Vračar and 30 certificates for accreditation to teachers in 9 school in Pančevo. In schools in Vračar there will be 54 recycling containers, which enables the beginning of the competition in collecting waste in 2013 and 2014 as well as trip to Budapest or Prague for the winners of the competition.


Goals of the project are to contribute to the process of changing public policy environment at local level according to EU standards and representation gender equality; Project Initiatives are aimed at stimulating people towards a more responsible  attitude to waste, and towards its sustainable treatment, such as decrease of it at the source, its reuse, recycling or disposing of it in a safe way; The winning RECIPLET device is urban collector of waste containers (plastic bottles and tins) which is charged with solar energy and has pet press and recycling material. The device has ecological and social - pedagogic goals; The main activity and the final outcome of the project aims to achieve consensus in the implementation of inter-municipal integrated model of systematic collection and waste recycling of raw materials from all schools in the municipality of Vranje, Sokobanja and Belgrade in cooperation with businesses; Through competition program for 2014. and 2015. the goal is to create a feeling among the local population of responsibility in handling it at all the levels, to provide for exact and complete information of management and promote principles of sustainable development, undertake stimulating measures and partnership of public and private sectors in waste management; The aim is to maintain sustainable manner of cooperation between civil society, non-governmental organizations, schools, colleges, local authority through upgrading and development in the area of environmental protection and renewable sources of energy. Educating and developing public consciousness and enabling people to have access to information on the protection of the environment and renewable sources of energy and socially responsible entrepreneurship; Strengthening of capacities and professional improvement of teachers in the area of environment protection and sustainable development for acquiring professional skills in the preparation of modern methods of work in teaching and afterschool activities.


Placement of RECIPLET in the Sport Center Vračar is the result of RECIPELT competition workshops held during May in the municipalities of Vračar and Sokobanja, Pančevo and Vranje, where 120 elementary kids participated from 50 regular and special schools. Through competition program and in the development of Reciplet ecological device (sculpture-toy for recycling pet and plastic bottles with solar charging), students developed creative and motoric abilities, and through the game and recycling they learned to make useful, nice and part of new playground something that had be rejected.

RECIPLET ecological device as a permanent value will be something to be left to the generations that are coming, and  is a transparent example for further integration of social and ecological approaches in educational practice. The winning solution of the elementary school "Siniša Nikolajević" from Vračar has been thought out by the authors Anđela Vukašinović and Andrijana Tmušić with the support of the teacher Slobodanka Todorović. The development of Reciplet is realized in cooperation with the Institute "Mihajlo Pupin" from Belgrade, which is an esthetically modified solution of the original winning conceptual proposal by the school kids.





Introducing containers for recyclable materials in schools enables the application of existing legal frameworks by local authorities. Thanks to  Telenor Foundation 100 recycling containers were purchased for pet and paper. 54 for 6 elementary schools from Belgrade, 36 for 6 elementary schools in Vranje, 9  for elementary and high school in  Sokobanja.

14 schools signed contracts with purchasers of the waste material. 6 elementary schools from Vračar, 6 elementary schools from Vranje, elementary and high school from Sokobanja.

Obezbđena su nagradna sredstva za takmičare sa Vračara, Sokobanje i Vranja od strane opština za pobedničko odeljenje, koje će ići na ekskurziju u Budimpeštu, Prag ili pet dana na more na kraju 2014. I 2015 godine u čemu će učestvovati 14 škola iz Vranja, Sokobanje i sa Vračara.

Provided funds for the award winning department, which will go on an excursion to Budapest, Prague or five days at sea at the end of 2014. and 2015 in which they will participate in 14 primary schools in Vranje. Sokobanja and municipality of Vračar.

Awarded 120 Certificates for the accredited training NO. 641 which have been passed in the Catalogue of the Bureau for the upgrading of upbringing and education for this and next school year i.e. for 2013/2014.

Press conference in relation to ceremonious award of 36 recycling containers for 6 elementary schools in Vranje and the announcement of the contest of schools in the collection of waste for  2014. and 2015., was organized on Thursday  12th December 2013 at elementary school ''Radoje Domanović'' Partizanski put 1 in Vranje from 13:00 to 14:00.

The system testing of the Robot Bird at Savski Venac

On Wednesday 11th  December. from 13:00 to 14:00 in the municipality of Savski Venac in Kneza Miloša 69, the testing of a new system of the Robot Bird  won by the municipality of Bor at Green Games Contest www.greengames.rs as part of the campaign "Knowledge for Sustainable Development" organized by the Octopus Association in  2011 and 2012.

National education campaign  "Knowledge  for  Sustainable  Development"  was carried out in partnership with 42 local authorities and 6 higher  education institutions, as well as 58 primary and secondary schools. 587  competitors, forming 58 competing teams, took part in Green Games competition. They  sent 58 video games. This was an establishment of social responsible  programming in practice. During the two-month promotion, 10 500 students  were  involved in playing Green Games and over 650 000 citizens of the Republic  of  Serbia have been notified or indirectly involved in the project during the  voting. After the campaign, about 5 500 students became interested  to  proceed  the development and they  signed up for Green Games online workshops  of  making video games (in 2013/14).  The  winners  of  Green  Games  competition  were determined by SMS votes of Serbian  citizens.  Money,  collected  from  text messages from Telenor operator, was used for further  education  of  talents of the Green Games contest, and they were awarded at  the  ceremony  on  4th December 2012.

Robot Bird, socially beneficial robot art for public space, with tin recycling function, authored by Biljana Biba Vicković is going to  be transported by the end of the year to Bor, where it will be fed by children and citizens of Bor with tins on daily basis.

 

Robot bird’s secondary function is the separation of waste by collecting and storing tins, which generates annual profit for the purchase of 4 new washing machines.

 

The basic idea of ​​the placement of the Robot Bird is to develop public urban space with artistic sculpture that has a practical and promotional role and its purpose is to culturally revitalize public space.

Robot Bird is powered by solar panels! The mechanization of Robot Bird is powered by solar energy, thus providing promotional activities for sustainable development during and after the project, and citizens’ environmental awareness is enhanced as well as the use of renewable energy in daily life.

The awarded Robot Bird is implemented through the donation of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) in accordance with the goals of the program  for the Western Balkan.

New technical-technological solution for the mechanization of the Robot Bird is the product of the experts from the Institute “Mihajlo Pupin” from Belgrade, and the conceptual solution of the press for tins belongs to Prof. Dr. Arbnora Pajaziti which solution will be finalized in 2014.

Our efforts contribute to RBF Fund’s aims to try through the award of grants to encourage cherishing of healthy democratic processes, supports regional initiatives aimed at destroying existing myths and prejudices and encourages unobstructed development of civil society.

The project ’’Recycle really, show what do you know’’, the customers demand competitive "Reciplet" workshops scheduled 10th 15th 16th and 17 May the municipality Vracar and Sokobanji and cities Pancevo and Vranje, where the next primary schools in Belgrade with the witch, and included 50 other schools in the project municipalities and cities in Serbia. The main activity and the final outcome of the project aims to achieve consensus in the implementation of inter-municipal integrated model of systematic collection and waste recycling raw materials from all schools in the municipality of Vranje Sokobanja and, according to the model of Pancevo - PUC "Hygiene," and finding a suitable model for the Belgrade municipality sorcerer, in cooperation with local governments, educational institutions and businesses (recycling of paper, metal and plastic waste), with gender equality advocacy, recycling machines and super-toy-sculpture remains in the yard of the winning schools, enduring value shipped globally in the coming .

Green Games awards given to the winners

With congratulations to everyone who helped realization of the national Green Games competition, the awards were given to the representatives of the winner municipalities of Bor, Knjaževac and Sokobanja
Green games awards were given to the winners of this national competition for a video game with the best ecological message in the conference hall of Vračar municipality on December 4th , The competition activated 587 competitors, grouped in 58 municipality teams, that have sent 58 video games.
Branimir Kuzmanović, the president of the Vračar municipality, Biljana Biba Vicković, the director of Oktopus organization, Dragutin Brčin, the counselor of the Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, Mr. Ryan Rowlands, the counselor of the American Ambassador in Belgrade for public relations, Nina Topić, acting deputy chief of mission for programs of Institute for Sustainable Communities and Ivana Vranjican, manager of Foreign Affairs in Telenor Company spoke about the competition and this social responsible project, after what the awards were given to the winners with congratulations.
The municipality of Bor won the first prize and is awarded with an socially beneficial robot art for public space, with tin recycling function the Bird Robot (donated by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund), personal awards for the competitors and the prize money, the amount of 137.231,00 RSD, of Telenor Company. The municipality of Knjaževac took the second place and the municipality of Sokobanja took the third place. These two municipalities are awarded with the ArtEco robots for recycling, also donated by Telenor, and personal awards for the competitors. ArtEco robot as a special award is given to the municipality of Ivanjica and primary school "Milinko Kušić", which is attended by children with special needs. All winners, as well as 4th and 5th place competitors from Kragujevac and Vršac are awarded by the Metropolitan University expert committee certificate, which was given by Miroslava Raspopović, the dean of the Faculty for Information Technologies FIT - Metropolitan University.

December 2012

Green Games national competition, which began in May 2012, is finished on October 31st. After counting the votes, the first prize, consisting of socially beneficial robot art for public space, with tin recycling function - the Bird Robot, donations from Rockefeller Brothers Fund, personal awards for the competitors and the prize money of Telenor, went to the municipality of Bor, that won 12,358 votes. The municipality of Knjaževac took the second place (with 4058 votes) and the municipality of Sokobanja took the third place (4040 votes). These two municipalities are awarded with ArtEco robots for recycling, also donated by Telenor, and personal awards for the competitors.
All winners, as well as 4th and 5th place competitors were awarded by the Metropolitan University expert committee certificate.
Special Award - ArtEco recycling solar-powered robot will be awarded to elementary school “Milinko Kušić” from Ivanjica attended by children with cerebral paralysis, who were included in the competitive part of the program due to mentoring activities of Svetlana Glavinić (Chairman of the Society for Cerebral paralysis of Ivanjica) and Dubravka Ivković (school psychologist).
Green Games Prize Award Ceremony will be held on December 4th , in Belgrade municipality of Vračar, when the awards will be given to winner municipality presenters.
The aim of the national campaign "Knowledge for Sustainable Development" is in accordance with the leading initiative of Lisbon Treaty and strategy Europe 2020. about innovations and efficient use of resources, along the achievement of present prosperity and preservation of the future one, which supports the implementation of social change through intersectional action, participation of NGOs and individuals.

Including over 150 of primary and secondary schools in the “Green Games” competition.
One day acreditated training “Green Games” seminar is dedicated to the teachers of informatics from 70 cities/municipalities of Serbia. Seminar is based on model of socially responsible programming in purpose of promotion of renewable sources of energy and clean technologies, and their longterm affirmation in the field of making multimedia contents with ecological message.
The participants will get all neccesary materials (posters, brochures, detailed instructions on the rules of the competition, multimedia presentation competition), in order to inform their pupils in simple and attractive way about further cource of the competition.
